David is employed by the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) and has been attached to the Chief Scientist Offices' Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Research Unit (University of Stirling) for the past 8 years. His position within the Clinical Directorate of the SAS involves undertaking research aligned to the services clinical strategy. The focus of David’s work is on the quality and safety of prehospital emergency care. Projects to date have included Left Bundle Branch Block, Mental Health/Psychiatric related emergencies, Hypoglycaemic care, COPD, "Treat and Refer" and emergency equipment check procedures. David continues to practice clinically as a paramedic within the West Division of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
